This is to confirm the pregnancy and see the heartbeat of the embryo between 7 to 10 weeks. This ultrasound usually has to be done vaginal to see it well. It is important to not urinate 1 hour before the exam.
Whenever there is no medical reason, but you want to have another look at your baby, you can ask to do an “Ultrasound for Fun.” We recommend doing this before 28 weeks to get some lovely images. After this, the Baby will be too big.
As of 18 weeks pregnancy we can determine the the sex of your baby. Remember that sometimes it is not possible to determine a 100% what sex it will be. In that case we offer to return for a second time after a couple of days.
At 10 weeks of pregnancy, it is ideal for measuring the baby to calculate the expected delivery date. If it is not clear abdominal, it might still be necessary to perform a vaginal ultrasound.
