Routine Blood and Urine tests
The midwife will send you several times during your pregnancy for Blood and Urine tests. The first time will be after your pregnancy has been confirmed during the first Ultrasound around 10-11 weeks. Only the first time will check your Blood Type, some venereal diseases (HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B),Iron level and Glucose. You also will have to submit a Urine sample. After these first tests we will only send you to check the Iron level and Urine sample every 2 to 3 months. This way we can detect early if there might be Anemia or an Urine infection.
Every pregnant woman nowadays will have an extensive Glucose test around 20 weeks which takes about 3 hours in the morning. Reason for this is to detect early during pregnancy if there are any issues with your Sugar metabolism.
