Prenatal Check-Up

During your pregnancy, there will be many consultations at Cas di Partera. In the beginning, this will be every 4 weeks, and as the pregnancy progresses, it will be shorter intervals. The first “intake” will be around 8 weeks of pregnancy. During the “intake” various topics will be discussed that can be of influence on your pregnancy. There will also be questions about your medical history, if you are taking any medications, your family history, your social situation, and any other issue that might be important for your pregnancy. If there are previous pregnancies, it will also be discussed.

You will receive information about the prenatal tests that are available in Aruba, and all the Ultrasound, blood and urine tests that will need to be done during your pregnancy. You will get information about a healthy lifestyle, and healthy eating habits. There will be opportunities for asking questions. In case it is desired, you can have an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy

Every consecutive consult, your blood pressure and the growth of your uterus will be measured. And will listen to the baby’s heartbeat. Now and then, we will check the weight of the mother. If you have complaints, the midwife will evaluate if these are normal or if it needs intervention. If the midwife notices something out of the ordinary, she will consult the gynaecologist. This way, together will decide if you can stay with the midwife or if you would need a referral to a gynecologist. During the pregnancy, the delivery will be discussed extensively, and in case you have certain preferences or requests, this can be brought forward to the discussion.
